| Pre-Orders |
While we welcome pre-orders on future products, customers should be aware that delays are
very common in this industry. Since most of the kits are imported, a variety of issues, such as international
shipping delays, licensing snags, and tooling problems can delay release dates on kits. For this reason, we tend to only
accept pre-orders on kits which we are convinced will be released in the next 30-180 days. We do update the
'Coming Soon' Page on our web site frequently as we receive updated release dates from the manufacturers.
We are not able to guarantee availablility or hold out of production and limited production kits when combined with
pre-ordered items. We do not bill pre-orders until they are shipped. |
| Resin Kits |
What are resin kits? Since many actual cars were not replicated as model kits, (or if they
were produced as kits, the cost and availability is prohibitive), a whole industry has sprung up that makes models
one at a time of hard to find subjects. Frequently, these models require other models as donor models to supply
key parts. Often, the modeler is left on his own to come up with chroming strategies and clear parts. By definition,
resin kits are for advanced modelers only. In addition, all resin kits require a fair amount of cleanup to remove flash,
and a good scrubbing is required to remove the chemical mold release agents that the caster uses to remove the models and
parts from the molds. It is beyond our scope to provide education or assistance with building resin models. This kind
of assistance can be found in Model Magazines, books, local Model Clubs, and on-line message boards. The pictures we
feature on the web site are frequently of real cars or period ads and are not of the actual resin model. All that
being said, resin kits are a great way to break away from the mundane and replicate cars that cannot be replicated
any other way. The resin plastic on these models is conducive to real automotive lacquer paints in contrast to regular
styrene models which are generally not compatible with lacquers without extensive priming.

Factory sealed -- [current kits are all (fs) and not noted] |
| (si) |
Kit or trees are factory sealed inside the box. E.g., chrome (si) |
| (rsi) |
Kit has been resealed inside for protection |
| (ptib) |
Kit is complete and 90% of parts are on trees with deficiencies noted |
| (pib) |
Kit is complete and less than 50% of parts are on trees with deficiencies noted |

Missing piece -- i.e., "mis. dir." means "missing directions" |
| tmo. |
Tire Mark on -- i.e., "tmo. decal." means "tire mark on the decal" |
| f/b. |
fair box -- means box is not in mint condition and may contain sight tears, creases, and
conditions beyond normal wear |
| coupon cut |
coupon cut -- common conditon, applying to MPC kits. MPC ran a long promotion called
the Golden Wheels Coupon Promotion where modeler could cut and collect the 2 inch square coupons from the side of
the box and then mail them to MPC for free products. Many modelers became adept at removing the coupons without
opening the box or breaking the factory seal which is why '(fs) coupon cut' is not an uncommon conditon on
collectable original MPC kits. MPC was purchased by ERTL in the mid 1980's and the promotional incentives are, of course,
no longer available. |
| c/t. |
cellophane tear -- means box is unopened and factory sealed, but the shrink wrap is torn. |
| c. |
Also, circa, iss., issued -- All indicate the year a kit was manufactured. |
| Scales |
Older Monogram kits are predominantly 1/24 scale. Revell kits are 1/25 scale.
AMT/MPC kits are predominantly 1/25 scale. (We attempt to note exceptions.) |
| RMX |
Revell/Monogram is now manufacturing under a combined label. |
| "c" |
A kit in current production when shown after the price |
| "d" |
Kits which are out of production or in limited production. We
specialize in these kinds of kits. The status of a kit can effect it's value.
For example, a kit which has been out of production for 20 years is certainly more
valuble than one in current production. (Although we try to keep this updated, occasionally a kit
may be accidentally misclassified as current or out of production.) |
| (OOP) |
Out of Production (same as 'd')-- Indicates an Out of production kit which we have in stock |
| "Sold" or "Soldout" |
Means what it says. We buy collections of kits every week. Therefore,
a "Sold" may turn back into a price in the event the kit becomes available again. |
| "SSP" |
Selected Subjects Program - An old Revell program where each quarter Revell-Monogram reissued a
premium line of their most requested model kits in their exciting ORIGINAL box art.
They make one production run based on pre-orders from their distributors. Due to the
limited availibility of the kits, they tend to be very collectable. |
| "BC" |
Buyers Choice - Same as the SSP above only this program was bi-annual.
Historically, kits in the Buyer's Choice program have a faster appreciation than SSPs. |
