1969 Sunny King Ford Talledega driven by Donnie Allison (1/25) (fs)

I remember fondly the Fall of 1969 when my Grandfather brought home his shiny new 1969 Ford Galaxie 500. He purchased the car from his friend Sunny King in Anniston, Alabama. Of course, Sunny was teamed up for racing sponsorship with the Alabama Gang led by the Allison Klan. Before his crossover to Indy Car Racing, Donnie Allison joined the ranks of other Fomoco stock car drivers in the aerodynamics war against Mopar drivers to win super-speedway dominance during the 1969 racing season. Allison's Torino Cobra was basically stock from the "A" pillar rearword, but the "big T" (Talladega) redesigned by Ralph Moody and Ford Engineers featured a front clip that had been lengthened by 5 inches and narrowed to reduce wind drag. Though lacking the radical contours of it's Mopar competitors, the new Talladega design was quite effective registering a speed of 151 mph at Darlington. This kit features detailed engine and suspension and is complemented by a high quality authentic Slixx manufactured decal.
