"The Italian Vega!"

The Monza 2+2, Chevrolet's sport successor to the Vega, debuted as a single-model 2+2 hatchback. The Monza is 4 inches (100 mm) longer and weighs 180 pounds more than the Vega from which it is derived. John DeLorean nicknamed it the "Italian Vega" citing styling with a strong resemblance to the Ferrari 365 GTC/4.

The official AMT Press release on this kit goes like this: "Check it out! The newest release in the Original Art Series from the Kats at AMT! It’s Chevy’s cost-conscious but cool compact, the 1977 Monza™ 2+2. This authentic kit features 2-in-1 building options! Go for sanitary showroom stock or soup it up with cool custom parts like a futuristic front clip with central road lamp, window louvers, side pipes, mag wheels and more! Decal art has been improved and expanded, now including authentic striping to decorate your model. Best of all, the kit includes a bonus print of the way out 1970’s box illustration, suitable for framing! It’s all served up in deluxe format Original Art packaging!"
