The Lancia Stratos HF Stradale is a rally car that won 18 World Rally events and three World Rally Championships. The Stratos was designed by Marcello Gandini and is considered one of the first thoroughbred rally cars. Its short wheelbase and light weight make it nimble and direct. The Stratos has a unique exterior with small, narrow front tires and tall, wide rear tires. The Stratos has a 2.4-liter six-cylinder "Dino" engine that produces 300 horsepower. The engine is mounted transversely behind the cabin. Production of the Stratos began in 1973, but only 492 were completed by 1975. This was because the Group 4 production requirement for the World Rally Championship was dropped to 400 units.
