"Beverly Hillbillies Truck (Based on 1923 Olds) from the 1960's TV show"
Originally a 1921 Oldsmobile Model 46 Roadster, famed car Kustomizer
George Barris (The Batmobile, Munster Koach, A-Team van, etc.) did such
an amazing job preparing the old truck for the series that many people
think he did nothing at all to the truck. Actually, he combined a
touring car body with the frame of a flatbed truck!
In the last two pictures you can see an episode where Jethro jazzed up
the family grocery-getter with a powerful 442 engine. In the last
picture you can see the real deal photographed in a museum. Luckily,
one of the old trucks still exists and is available for public viewing!
On May 6, 1976, Mr. Paul Henning, creator of the show, donated a
surviving truck to the Ralph Foster Museum at the College of the Ozarks
in Point Lookout, Missouri, just two miles from Branson. Five different
trucks were used in filming the TV show, and close watchers can see
slight continuity breaks and variations in the trucks.
