1939 Ford 39/40 Sedan 3 in 1 (fs) (3 in 1) stock, street, drag circa 1969
Fresh from 1969, this is the AMT 1940 Ford Sedan that builders and collectors seek out. Not only is the kit loaded with a couple of engines and building options to make a '39 or '40 Ford Sedan, this one has all the drag parts including the elusive drag racing grille insert that was only available with this release.
The kit is molded crisply in white. If you have ever hung around the competition tables at NNL's or IPMS events, and get talking to the old pros, you will find that one of their secrets is starting with pristine early issue kits. Model kit tooling wears and dulls over time, and even though a kit may have ten reissues at giveaway prices, the sages always want the early USA made molded in white kits to start a project. The detail is better, the lines are better, and with one of those deep finish paint jobs, the models just sparkle and draw attention.
This particular kit has been lovingly inspected and found to be complete. Most white parts and the majority of chrome parts are still on trees. Each category of parts has been resealed for protection and to keep the kit in tact. The outer box has been resealed for the same reason. Frankly, these kits are in better shape after our detailed inspection and repackaging. The box does show normal shelf wear, but she has been around untouched and unbuilt for 45 + years. There is a very slight box puncture near right headlight on the box top which you can see in the picture rotation. Sweet kit here! Decals are most likely not usable even though they are in good shape for their age. Basically, the decals are just period correct racing sponsors which are generally available in the market and at Model Roundup.
