1974 AMC Javelin (2 'n 1) Stock or High Performance Street-Strip Version

First issued in 1968 with the real cars, and made in Troy, Michigan, AMT's Javelin AMX Annual's have become holy grails of automotive modeling. In 1968 Johan produced the first Javelin kit. Later that year apparently AMT licensed the tooling and produced the first AMT Javelin Annual. In 1969 and 1970 AMT as well as Johan released the AMX versions. In 1971, for AMT, the kit turned into the Mark Donahue Racing version. In 1972-73, it seems that Johan got the tooling back and released their versions. In 1974 the kit was back at AMT and this was the swan song for the AMT Javelin model and for the for the real Javelin as well.

We received this kit in mint, factory sealed condition from a high-end collection. The original price tag from 1974 is still on the box top and end panel. $1.77, don't we wish! The box art is wonderful and we have scanned it al and it is available now to those of you with access to the photo rotations available on PC's or tablets.

1974 also happened to be the 25th Year Anniversary for AMT, and even the box bottom is printed with Anniversary specials that were available in 1974. A great piece of automotive modeling history is preserved here.
