Pontiac has long been credited with ushering in the muscle car era with
the '64 GTO. By the time the '66 model rolled off the assembly line,
with times of 0-60 in 6.5 seconds and a 1/4 mile in 14.65 seconds at 98
mph., the car had been refined to the point where it was not only the
first, but the best of the bunch.
